After my last update back in '07, I realized that there were a lot more people blogging on this subject and getting information a lot faster than me. I couldn't keep up anymore. Not with work and life, etc. I also had a 9-5 and did a lot of research and snooping from my desk. You may also like to know, I was, indeed, the VERY FIRST person to break the top secret poster image. Yep. That was me. I'd heard rumors that someone at a comic showroom had one, but there weren't any images online. I left work early, drove to the showroom and snapped a pic through a chain-link fence; all stealth-like. Within hours, the image was all over the net. Sure, it may sound like nothing now...but at the time, it was loads of fun. My little claim to fame.

Anyway, looks like the game is back on. Perhaps indicating the long awaited sequel to Cloverfield. Since September 2008, new clues are popping up and the best places to find them is: http://www.flylyf.com/aladygma-cloverfield-2/ and www.unfiction.com- I'm just starting to find them, myself.

I took some screen caps and noticed a few things:

We don't know who the girl in the video is. The shots of Times Square and the Army guys are pretty obvious, so I didn't include them. There is indeed something falling out of the sky - as you may recall in the Coney Island scene at the end of Cloverfield 1. Second, who are these people on the bus? The dude kinda looks like Teddy Hansson, but older. Furthermore, there appear to be several images in the glass - one that looks like it could be a face of something and a black shadowy thing. Finally, the girl making the video is dead.

This does indeed appear to be new clues for a Cloverfield 2. It's all speculation, but when the clues started popping up for Cloverfield 1, I was worried I was reading way too deep into things. Some yes, some no. Until we know more, it's all clues.

Meh: Audio and Various Updates

Wow. I mean wow. Like totally and utterly...wow. There is NOTHING whatsoever (and I mean nothing) going on.

The biggest news of late is that 1-18-08.com has added sound to the site. No new pictures, but audio of what the monster sounds like...cause we didn't already know, like we never heard it in the trailer we've all watched about a million times. At least it's something.

Thanks to Cloverfield News and Unfiction, we all have an sound file of the monster from 1-18-08.com

Other than that, apparently sometime last week the Slusho Happy Talk quotes were updated. I'll remind everyone that these quotes probably don't have anything to do with anything and are (more than likely) quotes from users who sent email to satoshi@slusho.jp. Someone also mentioned that the Jellyfish has been renamed "Squid".

On the 23rd, 1-18-08.com went down for a brief time and linked directly to the Paramount site. Must have been during the oh-so-exciting monster roar update.

Beasts of the Sea and Noriko Yoshida

It's been dead, quiet, silent, and still for days. The lack of updates is unreal. For weeks it felt like we were all on a roller-coaster ride and now, the ride is over and the park has closed.

That being said, I came across something today that I hadn't seen anywhere else. I'm sure everyone looked up Noriko Yoshida and came across the Kobe University site - but did anyone else notice this? This might fall into the category of "No shit Sherlock", but I digress. With nothing new coming in...if you hadn't heard it, it's news to you.

1-18-08truth.com pointed out that the Kobe site has an image (see left). The writing at the bottoms translates to "The Beasts of the Sea" - Interesting, right? I also noticed that the URL for Noriko's site has NY in it: http://ccs.cla.kobe-u.ac.jp/GenBun/ny/ny.html

Japan, New York, Beasts of the Sea? Yeah, it's all connected. I also looked at the picture of Noriko herself and there are books on the shelves behind her. One is "pissarro et la ville" another one reads "Make Trouble" - and other various text I can't read. By the way, the image of Noriko is titled ny.jpg

Does anyone think this site is connected for real? I think it really might be even though I'm sure it's already been shot down a million times. I can't help it, I'm bored.

LenaDia Wants Your Pics

In the trend of highly unimportant MySpace blog posts from cast members, LenaDia has asked that you post images of yourself and your sense of style. Apparently, she's a fledgling fashion designer working on a line of clothing. *Too bad she's going to die.

Is LenaDia just a friend or is she someone's sister/girlfriend? The URL to her MySpace page says her name is Marlena Diamond.

*I don't actually know who's going to die, I was just trying to be funny. OK? Don't get scared.

Rage of the Gods - Possible New Viral Site updated

A users on the IMDB message board discovered a possible new viral site today. www.rageofthegods.com - There's a lot of information and speculation already, so I'm going to try and sum up:

1. There are 2 images on the site titled 27.jpg and 6.jpg - Added they are 33, Subtracted they are 21, Divided they are 4.5 - Don't think that means anything. Also: 01+18+08 = 27. 6 is a common number in the ARG "You Can't Drink Just Six" etc.

2. The rat is the Japanese/Chinese symbol for year 2008.

3. The site was created 12 days before 1-18-08.com

4. www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js is in the source code - same as slusho.jp and 1-18-08.com

5. Wikipedia Rat traits: Ruling hours: 11pm-1am, Season: Winter, Negative Traits: Controlling, resentful, manipulative, cruel, vengeful, stubborn, power-hungry, critical.

6. Rat = Cheese

7. Information on Rage of the Gods (No confirmation)

8. Same IP locaton as slusho.jp (need to confirm)

9. Website title is -- same as 1-18-08.com (Morse Code for M)

10. GenoSin on Unfiction pointed out: Wow, I'm an idiot. This is definitely OOG (Out of Game), this site was made 2 months before slusho..meaning that it couldn't have always linked to slusho.

11. Page automatically directs to slusho.jp within a few seconds - to shop this, hit ESC or click the Stop button on your browser.

12. The address in the Whois is for a Japanese restaurant in Scottsdale, AZ: Hang on Sushi

13. Set-up through GoDaddy.com allows private registration - No telling who owns the site.

14. Unfiction is labeling the site OOG (Out of Game).

15. Mabus posted in the comments section that the cancel code box is a dead text box. Meaning, it doesn't actually do anything: Also the source code reveals the "cancel code" is simply an input box with nothing it inputs to.. meaning its just a box to type characters in but doesn't actually do anything: input name="textfield" class="style3" size="6" maxlength="6" type="text". I have limited knowledge on text input boxes, but there should be a "submit" action or something.

16. Mabus also pointed out: and one of the meta tags is a google sitemaps metatag. meta name="verify-v1" content="0SkVkN6apr9DZkKbQYc7kD76tRQXJFsd5/ZDo50ys1I="

17. One of the reasons why it's fake might be that the character above the rat is CHINESE not Japanese. So far, we've been dealing with information and facts about Japan.

18. Chrisda19 posted in the comments section that the Chinese character means "Shen" in rising 2nd Tone, meaning Deity or God

Rage of the Gods - Debunked

Like most of you, I really wanted to believe that rageofthegods.com was a real site. My BF, a writer, pointed out to me that it makes no sense from a story point of view. It's not part of the story so far and it doesn't do anything. Since he also played the LOST ARG and this is my first, I sometimes go to him with questions. He also explained that in an ARG, you shouldn't have to wonder if something is in or out of game...you should just know and it should be apparent. The only thing that kept me thinking rageofthegods.com was part of the game was the fact that the domain was registered around the same time as 1-18-08.com. In the end, this isn't enough to go on and the rest of the Collective Brain have given up. At this point, I am also giving up on Rage of the Gods. However, if something pops up, you know I'll post it. That's what I do.

Meanwhile, news, updates, and anything "game" related whatsoever have come to a near standstill. Like a lot of people, I have to wonder if this is game at all. Let's face it, it's probably not. What it seems to be is nothing more than marketing at it's finest, but even that is questionable. I hate to sound like I'm loosing my enthusiasm, but there just isn't much to go on these days. Regardless, this still seems like a really awesome movie and I'm going to continue blogging and posting updates as they arise. Whether this is a game...at this point, I have to say no. Maybe I'm just feeling frustrated at the lack of information and updates. Word on the street seems to be that something will drop very soon. Let's cross our collective fingers.

I'll also add that when rageofthegods.com broke, the collective brain worked at a break-neck speed to figure it out and within 8 hours, had determined it was false. This is what I love about all of this. It's amazing what people can do and the fans are a group of highly intelligent people from all walks of life. It's inspiring.

www.ganuyoshida.com is a joke site

www.ganuyoshida.com came up a few weeks back and I didn't think anything of it. However, it keeps coming up so I thought I'd pull together some concrete evidence that it's a joke site.

The site features two college guys. The title reads "My Main Dude". A phone number is written on one of the guy's arms. The original theory was that in the trailer, we see a paddle for a fraternity called Alpha Kappa Mu - A national honor society with chapters in the Southern United States - and this is connected because the characters are in college. Ganu Yoshida is the son of Noriko Yoshida, the inventor of Slusho. "My Main Dude" as you know is a line from the trailer. Camera man says to Rob "What am I gonna do without you?" Rob replies, "I don't know, I'm like your main dude".

1. Happy Talk is a section at the Slusho site that displays quotes sent in by people who emailed Slusho.

2. 44 Bow St. is the address of a humor organization out of Harvard University called "Harvard Lampoon"

3. Elmer Green is a doctor who studied Neurofeedback - Most likely a name one of the frat boys picked up in Psyche class.

4. The number written on the guy's arm is the number for Harvard Lampoon, however someone on the IMDB message board called the number and was told it was "Lampoon" and a "Harvard Chapter of Alpha Kappa Mu" - which, again, is the frat shown in the trailer.

5. The site was registered two weeks after the trailer opened ahead of Transformers and just about the time people really started catching on to this whole thing. In fact, the same day I started this blog.

Sounds like a joke to me. Several people have already called the number and hung up without getting any real information about this organization. Either way, I think it's pretty obvious these dorks are just messing with us. I also emailed "Elmer Green" and am waiting for a response.

Unlocking the Slusho Bots

Let me first say, thx Rasgold, your post is what got me goin on this.

First let me say, that I haven’t found anything to "unlock", but I digress.

I’ve found out how the different flavors , and combinations of flavors create your “megabot” slusho at the end. I hope that if there is something to “unlock” you can actually create your Slusho Bot the way you want.

First, create a new window or tab, and go to the flavors section of slusho.jp

Now, Fill every bar to the max and “slusho go!”. The order of the flavors going into the slusho cup (reguardless of what order you filled them) will be, Right to Left… that is Red, Yellow, Green, Orange, Brown, Blue

Looking at your Slusho Bot now, the slusho bot is really a color by number, kinda. Certain sections are always like colors. The sections for your slusho bot are:
1. Forearms, “soles” of the shoes, and bubbly torso are in Red
2. The rest of the shoes, and upper arms are in Yellow
3. Pelvis(minus the junk), “S” badge on the face, and joints are Green
4. The knees, and things on the shoulders are Orange
5. His Junk and the “fins” coming off the arms and legs are Brown
6. The Dots, on his face and on the Slusho cup are Blue

So, these are the rules for your color schemes
1. The more of a flavor, the more important, and thus moving up higher on the Color Sections.
2. In case of a tie (The example above, has all flavors tied at Max) The Flavor on the right wins
3. Each Flavor has three different color intensities.

#3 has all to do with RasGold’s find. Each Flavor Bar, has 2 ‘clicks’ in it, that separate the bar into three sections. Pretty much they are @ the one third and two third spots. Obviously, Flavors only going to the first section will yield a lighter color, and so on. However, there is another rule that I haven’t worked out completely. Say you just put a dab of Blue in and nothing else, your Slusho Bot will be Dark Blue in Color Section 1, everything else White. To get the Light Blue, you need a dominant color in the Scheme, So, Put Max Orange, Medium Brown, and a dab of Blue, and you’ll get, the light blue in Color Section 3.

I’m still working on some of the Flavor ‘hierarchies” if you do the All Flavors Maxed out, Slusho Bot, but take out Yellow, for some reason, Brown, moves into the number 2 Color Section.

I’m still kinda lost on all of the behaviors on the light colors, but if you’re messin around, look at it, its kinda cool, knowing exactly what your Slusho Bot will look like before creating him.

I've been wondering about the Slusho Bots - so far nothing's come up, but it would be interesting to see if something actually happens.

Japanese Newspaper Scans updated

These are scans of the three pages (front and back) that came with my Slusho t-shirt yesterday. I don't know if they mean anything, but it's interesting that they're all conveniently scanning bed size. Well, one was a little long, so I scanned that one top and bottom. These are in no particular order. If anyone has any insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: The minute I posted these, I found out that Cloverfield Clues already has them scanned and has determined what they are and where they come from. It's highly doubtful they contain clues and as I suspected, are simply a cute little joke. That's what I get for scanning late. Oh well.

Commentary

In the style of the late Hal Fishman, here's my commentary on the nature of the game:

Controversy over whether or not this is an ARG, a clever marketing campaign, or a red herring, are fruitful on message boards across the net. Isn't the nature of an ARG merely to get people excited about something so they'll purchase it? Either way, I'm convinced that there is indeed a game afoot. I've been thinking about this and I'm almost positive that JJ and Co. are taking an entirely new approach to the ARG format. Clues and information are now coming from one source: MySpace. Updates are being made all the time, so when I hear people saying that nothing new has come up, I have to wonder. I've started feeling that the MySpace angle is an entirely new concept to ARGs. It's about people and based on communication. It isn't about flash puzzles and piecing together snippets of video. It's about getting to know the characters and building clues through interaction.

Now, what we have to understand is that no matter how many clues come out, the nature and title of the beast are going to remain veiled. They can tell us WHY Rob is going to Japan or why Jaime is a whore, but the BIG surprise will be revealed when you pay 10 bucks for a movie ticket. If we discover what the beast is, why it's pissed, and what the story line is, why would we pay good money to see the movie and subsequently, the DVD, merchandise, and memorabilia?

We're a month in. I read posts everyday by people who are upset at JJ or are already bored. What this means is that people have a very limited attention span and crave constant stimulation. A game of this sort requires patience and vigilance. At this point, whatever we see on the big screen ISN'T going to live up to our wild fantasies of a hybrid Voltron/Lion/Cthulhu/Godzilla/Pokemon - most of us have already decided what we want it to be and the chances of us being disappointed are high. When we discover that it's a Slusho robot (or whatever), we'll throw our hands in the air and claim that we've been gypped and that JJ Abrams is a cheat.

I say, wait and see. You want to know what I really think? I think that whatever it is, it's going to blow us all away. Forget the hype, the speculations, the theories, and the composite photoshop posters. Whatever this thing is, it's going to be new and it's going to fuck New York up. Word.

In the end, it's about the ride. I don't REALLY want to find out what the monster is. I want to jump out of my seat and scream like a 5 year old when it's finally shown. I want the surprise. However, because I'm so entrenched in this story, I might actually find out whether I want to or not. Who knows.

I'm just saying. I don't get how people are bored already. This thing is taking off and is only gaining momentum! I'm excited. I'm ready for anything. I can do this for another six months and remain hopeful that whatever JJ has up his sleeve is going to knock our socks off.

John Murphy Might Ruin it for Everyone

Beware, the link below may contain possible spoilers. If that's not your thing, don't click. Out of respect for those of you who wish to remain in the dark, I won't give anything away, but I felt this was important enough to at least mention.

Someone by the name of "John Murphy" posted at the SteakNJB forums that he is close to someone who works on the film (a would-be wife) and has acquired crucial information to the plot and why Rob goes to Japan.

Follow-up posts suggest that John Murphy has merely wove a big fish tale out of clues we already know about. You know how it goes, could be real, could be fake. All in all, we'll find out in 6 months. Murphy also suggests that some major clues will be dropped in the next couple of weeks. In the course of the conversation on the board, he further relates that he is taking a big chance posting these clues, could get into a lot of trouble, and has gone to great lengths to conceal his identity.

Happy Slusho T-Shirt Day!

After having an awesome day at work, I arrived home to a Fed-Ex package from the Slusho Distrobution Center in South Carolina (A.K.A. Japan). Along with my black slusho girly tee were several sheets of Japanese newspaper tears:

Three tears in all were included and while my initial reaction was: This is a clue! I'm now more inclined to believe that it's just a cute little joke. That they added real Japanese newspaper for packaging as if the box really came from Japan and not South Carolina. Besides, if it were a clue, it's a really bad one. Not everyone can find a Japanese translator. It looks like a real newspaper to me. I also don't think the marketing firm in charge of this whole thing would take the time to print up thousands of fake Japanese newspapers just for one clue. Then again, who knows. If I know myself, I'll be taking out the old magnifying glass and scanning every inch. I'll keep you posted.

Cloverfield Clues Asked to Cheese and Desist

Interesting that Cloverfield Clues received a cease and desist letter from Paramount regarding the call sheet that New York Entertainment posted yesterday.

The letter reads:

Paramount has learned that you are reproducing, displaying and distributing the “Cheese” call sheet on your website ... Paramount hereby demands that you immediately remove the “Cheese” call sheet from your website.

I don't know, but it sounds fake to me. Does that sound like an official letter from a major company, written by some big-wig lawyer?

New York Entertainment - "J.J. Abrams's ‘Cloverfield’ Wraps — and We've Got the Call Sheet That Might Spoil the Ending"

New York Entertainment magazine released an article today that might spoil the ending of the film. I read it, it doesn't really spoil anything for me.

New York Entertainment - "J.J. Abrams's ‘Cloverfield’ Wraps — and We've Got the Call Sheet That Might Spoil the Ending"

In the article, apparently one of NYE's staffers showed up to the set and was just handed a Call Sheet for the day. What's up with that? Why would someone just hand him a call sheet with all kinds of spoilers on it? Seems odd. Considering the level of secrecy this movie has, it seems strange that NYE would get their hands on something so important. I'm still reeling over the fact that passersby were able to infiltrate the set, snap photos, and shoot video. Are most movie sets this open?

If the openness of the set is standard for most movie shoots, OK, but if this is a rare occurrence, I think something's up. Perhaps JJ and Co. WANT people to infiltrate and post video on the net.

Be forewarned, the link above does seem to contain legitimate spoilers although, I'm a little skeptical.

I can't go to bed without posting something about the best movie I've never seen, so here's today's sum ups:

Cloverfield News went on a debunking spree outing Ethan Haas and ABZ3293.com. We knew about old Ethan, but ABZ3293.com is news to me; although it was speculated. CN also talked about a Leviathan video game connection to JJ's show "What About Brian" - Does anyone actually watch that show?

ebobrow at the IMDB message board posted images from today's shoot in NYC. They're all really blurry and vastly unimportant. Some of the following comments are a good read.

One of the cast members "LenaDia" made a startling addition to her "people who look like they have down syndrome, but don't" list: Sammy Sosa. All I can say is: WTF? Who's LenaDia anyway? She's obviously one of the cast, but is she someone's girlfriend, roommate, cousin, annoying little sister? The more I learn about these characters, the more I want them to get eaten by something monstrous, terrifying, and ferocious. This doesn't appear to be any kind of real clue...unless the monster itself is a metaphor for birth defects. LenaDia's mood is "Savage", which, come on...that's pretty overt. The monster is apparently savage. We get it. She is also currently watching The Devil Wears Prada - a pretty cute film, but hardly has anything to do with anything...that is, unless we're talking about the "devil" part. Is the monster the fashion industry or Satan himself?

It's been a slow couple of days. On Friday, we didn't get a new picture added to the pile at 1-18-08.com, but the images themselves were given new functionality and flip a little differently. Nothing to get excited about.

The biggest news this weekend has been that the cast have started adding friends to their MySpace profiles and are allowing comments from fans. HUD added a new survey question asking which X-Men character was his favorite: Cyclops. Here we see the "eyes" theme again.

'll start. Cyclops is my favorite. I know, he can be kind of a dick. But the dude is a hero through and through. And you need that leader character to keep the team together (Leonardo was also my favorite Turtle, so at least I'm consistent). His powers and the fact that you can't look him in the eye is so simple yet so profound. I especially love the way Summers is written in Astonishing.

If we believe that everything means something, I need to know a little more about X-Men. I'll ask my brother. Several things can be pulled out here:

Eyes
Not looking someone in the eye
You need a leader character (could it be Rob?)
Leonardo was a MUTANT turtle...the way the X-Men were mutants - this would also lead us back to the "Slusho makes something bad happen" theory.
I don't know about "Astonishing". Can anyone elaborate?

I added the Slusho MySpace profile to my friends on the off-chance it was legit. Now, more than ever, I'm convinced it's a fake.

They posted a bulletin today announcing the new flavors:

Considering that's it's lackluster, about three days late, and the image doesn't even link to the site...I'm gonna call this one fake. A very good fake.

I do realize this was outed about a week ago, but I wanted to bring it up again in light of the 3 day late announcement of new flavas.

It makes sense. What it means, who knows. I did notice, however, that Beth working at Penguin Publishing was rather literal. Instead of working for a "publishing company", she works for a real place. One could spend hours speculating what it means or take it a step further and look for clues at http://us.penguingroup.com - but I think it's a false lead anyway. I did, however, do the obligatory 1-18-08, cloverfield, etc. search at the site and nothing came up.

On the Set Spy Video and Pics

I can't go to bed without at least making a comment about the spy video that came out sometime between my leaving work and eating dinner tonight. Either way, I kind of don't like it. I mean, it's cool that people are out there getting info, but it defeats the purpose of suspense. Getting out there with a camera and spoiling the surprise is like someone telling you what your present is before you unwrap it. Booo. I don't know, it's cool to see smashed up cars and rubble and finally find out where this mystery street is. I'm guessing this is the street onto which Lady Lib's head is flung onto. That's cool.

I'm also a little disappointed that the sets aren't kept under better wraps. You'd think a movie with this much suspense would have a closed set. Security? I guess it's hard to pull off when you're filming on a busy street. Eh. Oh well. I don't even know why I'm complaining. We've got video and it shows some stuff and it's pretty cool. Still don't know what the monster is. With the sheer volume of information coming out, we're bound to find out sooner than we think. Like all other good and responsible bloggers, if I find out, I'll post it. I will also transmit a warning of "incoming spoiler alert" for those of you who like living in the dark.

So go see that video already.

I LOL'd. I really did. Comments a'plenty might mean that video is coming soon. In his February 14th post, Rob states he needs to buy a video camera. Hmmm. Could it be the infamous camera that shoots the trailer scenes? Ya think? Also, do note that the character Hawk is Rob's brother (comment on Hawk's page by Rob saying to contact some aunt-or-other.) and might actually be the camera-man "What am I gonna do without you?", "I don't know, I'm like your main dude". I think it's all about the brotherly love.

UPDATE: It looks like all the other "friends" have just as many comments on their video pages. You don't have to be a friend to comment on videos; seeing as the "cast" isn't accepting any new friends requests anyway (which is just as well) this is where you can let loose the hilarity.

What you're seeing is the OFFICIAL teaser poster. Notice that there isn't a tag line. Official teaser posters were released to the press this morning and then handed out to attendees of today's Comic-Con panel as part of the ultra-nifty swag bag.

Word on the street is, tag lines to come are: "Monstrous", "Barbarous", "Ferocious", "Furious", and possibly "Terrifying"...plus other adjectives as well. I'm only guessing, but "Sweet", "Sensitive", and "Cuddly" didn't make the cut.

Someone on the IMDB board, in response to my hi-res images, stated that they know the vendor selling the "stolen" image for the movie and has already been contacted by Paramount.

The name of the person who is selling the one sheet pictured by our fellow poster here on IMDB is Luanna Jo Brown. I happen to know this woman. She has a big booth at the Frank and Son's show and sells movie posters and bootleg movies. She lives in Victorville, CA and Paramount has already been contacted regarding this breach and this stupid lady just spoiled the big announcement of the film's title that Paramount was saving for the Comic Con for all us fans. Plus -- she will be actually trying to SELL THESE STOLEN MOVIE One Sheets from Paramount while she is at the Con. I hope karma is kind to her. Cause Paramount won't be!!!!

Whether this is true or not, it hasn't seemed to phase anyone very much. Arguments against the poster state that the Vendor "Luanna Jo Brown" ruined the game by revealing the super-secret title days before JJ Abrams' big announcement at Comic-Con. As far as I'm concerned, we don't know that this is a true story and so what if the title is Monstrous? We still don't know what the monster is or why it's so pissed.

These snappy snaps are only slightly better than the images floating around right now. I went to Frank and Son with the intention of buying one, but the vendors were gone. When I asked their neighbors, they informed me they'd gone to Comic Con. No doubt you'll find this poster there and within hours, we'll have even better versions to admire.

Anyway, it's all we've got to get us through the next couple of days. These, by the way, are awesome.

UPDATE: A few people on the IMDB wondered why I didn't BUY a poster or talk to the vendor. The answer is: No, I'm not a cheapskate or an idiot. The booth was closed as the vendor is on his/her way to Comic-Con. I took the above photos through a locked gate/grid. It's the best I could do. Luckily, Comic-Con starts tomorrow and I'm sure we'll soon have EVEN BETTER images to ogle.

UPDATE 2: I gave it some thought, but ultimately watermarked the images. The images got around faster than I imagined and it's not fair if other people take credit for my mad snooping skills. Hopefully the watermark isn't obtrusive. I don't think it will be.

Frank and Sons G4 Notice

So I did a drive-by at Frank and Sons, the place that supposedly has theatrical trailer posters for the for supposedly titled Monstrous A.K.A. Cloverfield A.K.A. Slusho A.K.A. 1-18-08 - I knew they were closed, but wanted to check out the building. Anyway, I spotted a notice on the back door stating that anyone who didn't want to get filmed by G4 should leave the premises. I got a crappy phone camera shot of the notice:

Apparently G4 is filming for an upcoming Comic-Con preview show. My guess is, they'll be some spicy info on Monstrous A.K.A. Cloverfield A.K.A. Slusho A.K.A. 1-18-08.

Project Cloverfield and Cloverfield News are reporting that a mysterious theatrical trailer poster has popped up. It shows a decapitated Statue of Liberty with her back to the camera, facing New York. The heading reads "Monstrous".

You can see the images here.

Whether this is an actual theatrical poster or not is up for debate. There is a local collectibles house that appears to be selling it. They're not open today, but on Wednesday. It just so happens, this warehouse is RIGHT down the street from where I work, so I'll be heading out and doing some undercover work. Most likely we'll have more information by then, but this place looks huge and I just want to ogle the collectibles and toys. I also want to talk to the vendor and find out what he/she knows, if anything. It's not uncommon that large poster distributors have their own printing presses and graphic designers, so what we're looking at might simply be a fake or someone "idea" of what the poster might look like. Who knows. I'll find out for sure on Wednesday.

Slusho Response Emails

As you know, Slusho plays an important part in the ongoing saga. What it all means, I'm not sure anyone knows.

There is an email address at www.slusho.jp - I haven't emailed it. Those who have, receive an automated reply that states: "Slusho! loves your mails!! You Can't Drink Just Six!!!"

Recently, however, selected members of the IMDB board have posted that they are receiving an email that states: "Liberty is reward of drinking Slusho. Manufactured by the Sea just for you and Me. Slusho loves NYC"

UPDATE: I emailed Slusho and await a response.

UPDATE 07-21-07: Another user of the IMDB board states they've received a message that reads: "Thank you for the love of Slusho. This is truly a drink that will make big. For you and Me, Slusho will make big". I haven't received anything at all.

BTW, it appears that my post on Bent Mountain is some kind of indicator that I am reading into things way too much. I was just sayin', that's all. I thought it was weird. I was also following the "everything means something" rules of the game (or whatever). Furthermore, I had my man look it up on Google Earth and you get options: "Did you mean" etc. Not in regular Google. Why would Google assume I wanted Irvine and furthermore that "airport" meant Virginia some 2000 miles away? Coincidentally, VA is where Albert Pike was from. Just sayin'. Dang.

I'm cranking these out faster than you can read them.

OK, so what's the deal with Ethan Haas? Some say it's connected, JJ Abrams said it isn't, some aren't convinced. There is talk that perhaps Ethan Haas has something to do with an RPG that is simply riding the viral wave with Cloverfield. Who knows.

Ethan Haas is also the name of a TV Show character from "The Class" [ ref ]

It seems a little too coincidental that the TV character's name is Ethan Haas and so is this guy from what might possibly be an RPG. The actor that plays Ethan Haas is Jason Ritter (John Ritter's son). I did a preliminary comparison of the guy in the Ethan Haas Was Right videos and an interview with Jason Ritter and I'm convinced it's the same guy. I'll have audio later in the day.

According to OMG WTF EHWR: "But, Mind Storm Labs was posting online back in January looking for artists. So, either MSL and its RPG are real, and are in fact the man behind the curtain of the EHWR game, or this has been a seriously long con, with pieces being put in place online six months ago". [ ref ]

CloverfieldNews.com writes: "...but basically if you look at the source code for the ethan haas site, the 1-8-18 site and the slusho.jp site, you will notice that only 2 of the 3 are using the google analytics on them… bet you can guess which 2." [ ref ]

I'll be updating this post with more information later. Gotta get back to work.

UPDATE: It appears that Ethan Haas has nothing to do with Cloverfield/1-18-08 so therefore I won't be updating this post. If anything new comes up, I'll let you know.

WTF? Airport, Virginia, United States updated

Ok, this might be stretch, but check this out.

Out of curiosity, I typed "Cloverfield" into Google Maps. It automatically took me to Cloverfield, Irvine CA. A street, I guess? There doesn't seem to be anything of significance about Irvine, CA - Still further curious, I got directions from "Airport" to Irvine, CA. There are at least 5 airports in the area: Long Beach, Santa Ana, LAX, Ontario - heck, even Burbank. Why then did the results take me all the way to Airport, Virginia, United States? - Half way across the country!!

If you type "Airport, Virginia, United States" into Google, the map comes up as well. Now, the interesting thing (and I might be looking WAY too deep into this) is that I don't see A) An airport or B) A town called Airport. What I do see is Bent Mountain, which looks like a town.
Is not Cthulhu said to be the size of a mountain? Am I crazy? Why on Earth would Google Maps take me to Airport Virginia? What?? I thought Google was smarter than that. Like I said, there are a bunch of airports near Irvine. Also, why did it pick Irvine when I typed in Cloverfield? There are a bunch of streets named "Cloverfield", I'm sure, all over the country. In particular, the one in Santa Monica.

If you'll recall, the address for the Technical Contact for 1-18-08.com is located in Virginia. Am I making mountains out of mole-hills? Time will tell.

The plot thickens? Either way, this is strange and not typical of Google Maps results.

UPDATE: I did a much scientific test by typing in Cloverfield and then the word "Airplane" - I got the typical "Did you mean", I tried other random words like "hotel", "shopping" - All resulted with the same "Did you mean" with some options. I tried the Cloverfield to Airport again, but this time I got "Did you mean" - Was Google broken for a day or did it actually mean something? The world may never know.

I've been listening to the recording of the 310 number and haven't been able to figure out EXACTLY what is being said, but from what I gather, it's weather information for air traffic - airplanes.

Ok, here is a lead I found that no one seems interested in looking into but it seems like pretty critical stuff so...hear me out. This is in regards to the 1-18-08 movie, not the Haas stuff...I know, sue me

Here it goes,
I found this on a website the other day, I admit I have not looked into this element myself so if anyone else could substantiate this first part I would really appreciate it.

"One odd little factor is that the movie seems to have some kind of connection with Freemasonry. The “Cloverfield” website, 1-18-08.com’s Technical Contact is Albert Pike and the address is 101 Callahan Drive Alexandria, VA 22301 which is at The George Washington Masonic National Memorial. What exactly this has to do with the plot of the movie is yet unknown."

Now I looked into this Albert Pike fellow and found this

"In contrast to Catholic allegations of rationalism and naturalism, Protestant objections are more likely to be based on allegations of mysticism, occultism, and even devil worship. Albert Pike is often cited by Protestant anti-masons as an authority for the position of Masonry on these issues. However, Pike, although undoubtedly learned, was not a spokesman for Freemasonry and was controversial among freemasons in general, representing his personal opinion only, and furthermore an opinion grounded in the attitudes and understandings of late 19th-century Southern Freemasonry of the USA alone. Indeed his book carries in the preface a form of disclaimer from his own Grand Lodge. No one voice has ever spoken for the whole of Freemasonry.[55]"

So this guy that is Tech Support for the website is apparently a deceased Freemason that was an expert in Black Magic, the occult and even Devil Worship. This sounded sort of like Cthulhu's realm, so I did some poking around on that as well and found out that when the Esoteric Order of Dagon (For those not to keen on Lovecraft's work, Dagon was and old one much like Cthulhu, though he was seen as more of an intermediary between the God's than a God himself)was first being formed, they posed as a Masonic sect to avoid detection.

Now I know some of this seems kind of far fetched but it is apparently derived from the only site we know is 100% Official, we also know that there is a lot of circumstantial evidence to link Cthulhu (or any of Lovecraft's work) to this film and if this is true I would say it is pretty damn important. Help me spread the word on this theory or at least help me look into it. Thanks for your time all, as always, keep me posted.

The number listed is a Los Angeles area code, most likely Santa Monica - where JJ Abrams is located. I called the number and it's a recording that sounds like air traffic control.

The most interesting parts about articles and blog entries are the theories that turn up in the comments section. You'll find theories from all angles and some fan boys just can give up on the Voltron theory. Yeah, Voltron kicks ass. We know this, but none of the real world clues really point to it. Besides, a Voltron film is already under way and it has nothing to do with JJ Abrams or 1-18-08. There are some interesting theories and questions that arise in the comments section, so I suggest you take a few hours and take a look. Perhaps if I have time later, I'll start summing them up (with credit to the original idea person, of course).

The second stop on our mysterious tour is a most obvious locale: The Cloverfield Wikipedia entry. At this point in the game, the entry at Wikipedia states most of what we already know...which isn't much. There is some basic information about viral marketing, the trailer, film locations, cast, and other semi-pertinent information. Because not a lot of information is currently available, there is a good chance that the information provided at the link isn't accurate. Still, it's a good starting point.
